The Atlantic County Youth Services Commission's (YSC) mission is to plan and implement community based services and advocacy to prevent and reduce juvenile delinquency and improve the juvenile justice system. The Youth Services Commission is also designated to administer the State/Community Partnership Grant Program, Family Court funding and Innovations funding. Some of the programs administered include:
Detention Diversion Program Atlantic County Intergenerational Services – the Detention Diversion program assists the court in determining a more appropriate placement than the county juvenile justice detention center. The project coordinator has two functions: presenting an incarceration alternative to the judge due to the mental health problems, family dysfunction or other special needs of the youth; and also acts as chairperson of the Detention Review Committee which meets weekly to review juvenile offenders activity, present progress reports to court and other agencies.
