EGG HARBOR TWP.-- A collection two weeks in the making was dropped off Friday at the Community Food Bank of New Jersey's Southern Branch.
Atlantic County Utilities Authority dropped off the boxes upon boxes of 500,000 pounds of food to the food bank Friday morning.
The annual food drive asks residents to leave the canned food alongside their recycled goods. Then the county sorts the products and ships them off.
"This probably is our favorite event that has such far reaching impact. And I don't think anyone is unaware of the current economic situation, so it makes events and efforts like this so much more important," says Monica Coffey, Communication Manager of ACUA. This was the 19th year of the annual holiday tradition.
