NORTHFIELD - Officials passed the 2012 Atlantic County budget Tuesday afternoon.
The $194.1 million budget, about $3.1 million more than last year, raises the tax rate by .047 cents, less than half a cent.
Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson says it comes with no layoffs or furloughs, and is one of the most balanced budgets around, "This was an extraordinarily good budget considering the economic times, not only in the state but in the country and throughout the world. It's pretty good."
The amount to be raised by taxes is $152.7 million dollars, which is about $4 million less than what is allowed by the state-imposed two percent budget cap.
