Board of Elections
The County Board of Elections' members are appointed by the Governor and function under N.J.S.A., Title 19. In conjunction with the Office of the Superintendent of Elections, this Board is directly responsible for conducting all school, municipal, county, state and federal elections.

The County Board of Elections designates polling places, appoints district board workers; conducts District Board Worker instructional classes; issues Challenger Certificates for primary and general elections; receives and counts Absentee ballots, as well as Election recounts. This Board also reassigns Election Districts in each municipality as prescribed by law.

Board of Taxation
The Board of Taxation ensures the taxation of all property in the County at its taxable value. The Board along with the Director is responsible for conducting hearings and rendering decisions on taxpayer appeals. The Board of Taxation is a three member Board appointed by the Governor.

The Director and Board staff conduct the day to day business of the Board. This Office is responsible for the development and production of equalization values with respect to the schedule of amounts due to the County by each municipality.

Superintendent of Elections
The Office of the Superintendent of Elections' members are appointed by the Governor and function under N.J.S.A., Title 19.  In conjunction with the Board of Elections, this office is directly responsible for conducting all school, municipal, county, state and federal elections.

The Superintendent of Elections function includes voter registration, custody and maintenance of voting machines and registration cards, as well as responding to registration problems and complaints. This Office also conducts investigations of voter fraud, elections fraud and other inquiries pertaining to voter registration.
