Singer/songwriter,
Andrea Quigley, accompanied herself on guitar as
she performed her own composition, a haunting song entitled "Mary".
Andrea hails from Egg Harbor Towsnhip High School.
Emma Halpern read
a humorous short story about her family vacation which
recently won a national award. Emma attends Absegami High
School and also had poetry selected for the County and
State Anthology.
Lisa
Gargione's lilting voice enticed the audience with
a medley of songs from West Side Story. Lisa is entering
her sophomore year at Absegami High School.
Ashley Jerome read
from her intriguing story entitled “ The Generation
of Madness.” Ashley is from Absecon and attended
the College Preparatory School of Southern New Jersey.
Ashley’s story will be published in the County Anthology.
Violinist Vadim Tsires (right) and guitarist
Josh Bassett (left) proved their musical prowess by performing
their own wonderful arrangement of a Metallica song along
with a beautiful classical composition. Josh returns to
Mainland Regional High School for his senior year and MRHS ’99
graduate Vadim will attend Rowan University in the Fall.
The audience included Ms. Lillian Levy, (right) current
member and former Chairman of the New Jersey State Council
on the Arts, and Ms. Joanna LaSane, (left) former member
of the same. Both women are tireless supporters of the
arts in Atlantic County, particularly programs which provide
art education opportunities for young people.
