What is the Beautification Partnership Program?Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson has formed a public-private partnership program to beautify and maintain intersections, highway medians and traffic circles throughout Atlantic County. The Atlantic County Beautification Partnership Program encourages businesses to adopt median strips and certain other property along public rights of way and maintain and beautify the areas in exchange for appropriate advertising. Levinson stated that the program is intended to markedly improve the appearance of County roadways. Businesses will be required to use the services of a professional landscaping firm. "Every summer when we have the most people visiting our area, our roadways always look their worst.
Its not enough that our roadways look good. We want them to look great," Levinson said. How does it work?Your organization benefits by getting involved. Your business can choose an area median strip, right of way or roadway and maintain them. In return, Atlantic County will provide signage identifying your efforts. These two signs will allow for tremendous visability, and cost-effective advertising. These signs will be placed in direct sight of millions of motorists, day and night, 365 days a year! We are also offering any state roads for beautification through the New Jersey Department of Transportation. "Were one of the most visited areas on earth with over 30 million visitors annually, most of whom come by car." Levinson said. "It is important to both our residents and visitors that Atlantic Countys roadways always look their best. However, the task of maintaining these areas at a level higher than routine maintenance is too expensive and labor intensive for government alone. A public private partnership seems to be the answer."
" Its win - win. We get beautified roadways and traffic circles. Businesses get promotional recognition." What sites are available?Under this program, a business may "adopt" a section of designated roadway that they would be contractually obligated to maintain at a specified level in return for promotional signage. Locations will be made available on a first come, first served basis, pending review and approval by a six member Beautification Committee. Beautification Partnership sites will be inspected regularly by the Atlantic County Department of Public Works to ensure that they adhere to standards. View the list of available sites!
