(updated 6/16/03) On June 13, 2003, the New Jersey Health Commissioner announced that a boy who was suspected of having monkeypox has tested negative for the disease and has tested positive for chickenpox. Atlantic County residents should know that there are no suspected monkeypox cases in our county. Public health officials are working with state and federal authorities to monitor the spread of all diseases, including monkeypox.
