Central Avenue in Linwood will remain closed to traffic and a detour will remain in effect through November 4, 2005 upon request by Agate Construction Company, Inc., the contractor for the Bargaintown Mill Pond Dam repair project. The extension was neccessitated by last week’s heavy rainfalls coupled with extreme tidal events that caused failures to the temporary water control system that was installed to de-water the work area. Once the site is de-watered, engineers will be better able to determine the best way to complete the repairs. Should additional work be required, the project could be further extended. The Bargaintown Dam Bridge between Linwood and Egg Harbor Townhip will be closed for improvements and repairs beginning September 19, 2005. It is expected to be closed to traffic for 30 days. Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour or find an alternate route.   This project has been completed.
