GETTING AROUND - ATLANTIC COUNTY ROADS UNDER CONSTRUCTION

South Jersey Gas Company is scheduled to install a new gas main on Ocean Heights Avenue in Hamilton and Egg Harbor townships beginning Monday, August 8, 2005. Work will continue for approximately four weeks. During that time a road closure will be in effect on Ocean Heights Avenue between Somers Point-Mays Landing Road (Rt. 559) and English Creek Avenue. The road will be closed between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM, Monday through Thursday. Ocean Heights Avenue will reopen to traffic Monday through Thursday evenings and all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Approaching traffic from the west on River Road, Main Street and Route 40 in Mays Landing will be directed to Route 40 east as an alternate route. All trucks over 8 tons are to use Route 40 to the Black Horse Pike. Approaching traffic on Ocean Heights Avenue from the east will be detoured to English Creek Avenue to Route 40 west towards Mays Landing. Traffic signs and detour routes will be clearly marked. Police will be onsite to assist with traffic control. Motorists are advised to find an alternate route. Delays are expected.   This project has been completed.
