Beginning August 31, a lane shift / stop & go traffic pattern will be in effect Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM on Mill Road between California Avenue in Egg Harbor Township and Wescott Road in Absecon for work by Atlantic City Electric. Motorists should plan travel time accordingly or seek an alternate route.

The eastbound ONLY detour of Mill Road in Egg Harbor Township has been postponed by the contractor due to recent storm activity that caused work delays.
The new effective date is Monday, August 3.

This eastbound detour of Mill Road between Old Zion Road (Spruce Avenue) and Fire Road will be in effect 24 hours a day and is expected to last into November as work continues on the county’s intersection improvements at Fire & Mill roads. The westbound lane will remain open.

Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour or seek an alternate route and plan travel time accordingly.

For more information about this project, including the detour route, visit the Mill Road and Fire Road Improvement Project page.

Mill Road and Fire Road Improvement Project

The improvements at the intersection of Mill Road and Fire Road in Egg Harbor Township will significantly enhance the capacity and function of this important intersection, located within one of Atlantic County's growth areas. The presence of the Garden State Parkway and the extent of wetlands and other environmentally sensitive areas all served to limit the potential for a larger expansion of this intersection, and required extensive regulatory review under both the NJDEP and Pinelands Commission due to the joint jurisdiction held by both agencies. Extensive off site mitigation was required under the three NJDEP and the single Pinelands permit.
