Tool boxTools For Use in ArcIMS

To explore the map in the viewer you need to be familiar with the tools in the tool box.

Toggle between legend and layer list: This button allows you to go between the legend, which shows you the symbology of the map to the layer list which lists all the different layers available to turn off and on in your current map service.
Toggle Overview Map: This button allows you to toggle between your main map and your overview map.
The Zoom In Tool: Allows you to zoom into areas that you are interested in. You can use this tool in two ways. One way you can click in the view window and the button will center and zoom in one time. The second way you can zoom in is to click and drag a box around the area you wish to zoom into and view will zoom in and center on that area.
The Zoom out tool: Allows you to zoom out from where you are positioned. The zoom out tool works in the same manner as the zoom in tool.
Zoom to full extent: Allows you to zoom to the full extent of the map service.
Zoom to active Layer: In your layer list you have an option to make one layer your active layer, the tool will zoom in to the layer you have selected as the active layer.
Back to Last Extent: This button allows you to go back to the last extent you had you map at.
Pan: This tool allows you to pan around on the map without changing the zoom extent.
Pan North or South
Pan East or West
Identify: This tool brings up the tabular information on the item selected in the map. To identify an object you need to first make that layer active in the layer list, then you may select the item you wish to identify.
Query: This tool allows you to query the active data set.
