Freeholders Form Education Committee
|
Atlantic County Freeholder Chairman James Curcio has announced the creation of an education freeholder committee to focus attention on issues and concerns that impact Atlantic County.
“Education is on the forefront of discussions involving the economy on the federal, state and local levels,” stated Curcio. “Issues include the need to provide early childhood education, improve access to higher education and provide training for displaced workers. School regionalization is also on the radar in New Jersey as a means to reduce costs and the burden on taxpayers.”
According to Curcio, the committee will work with education officials to ensure that Atlantic County remains a model for education in the 21st century. Freeholder members will include Alisa Cooper, committee chair; Tom Russo and Joe McDevitt.
“Atlantic County is fortunate to have quality educational facilities and personnel who are dedicated to preparing students for success in our increasingly competitive world. Our goal is to help our schools meet their new challenges and provide students with the skills they need to become productive citizens.”
Atlantic County’s educational facilities include Atlantic Cape Community College, The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, Atlantic County Institute of Technology, the Special Services School District, and numerous public, private and charter elementary and secondary schools.
