Atlantic County Board of Freeholder Meetings on DVD

In case you missed the latest cable broadcast of the Atlantic County Board of Freeholders meeting, or the last several months of meetings, don't dismay. You can now easily catch up on what you may have missed.

DVDs of year 2008 meetings are now available in two ways. Video downloads can be found on the Atlantic County Library System's Website through MyLibraryDV service at www.atlanticlibrary.org/freeholders and DVD copies are available in the library's Egg Harbor Township, Galloway Township, Hammonton and Mays Landing branches. Patrons at any of the library system's other six branches may also request these DVDs by using the library's online catalog: gateway.atlanticlibrary.org.

"We are pleased to make the meetings available on DVD and increase our residents access to their county government. Those who are unable to attend the 4 PM weekly meetings can now view them from the comfort of their homes, at their convenience," stated County Executive Dennis Levinson.

The Board of Freeholders meetings are recorded by the audiovisual club of Mainland Regional High School. These video recordings are shown on some Atlantic County cable television local access channels.

Freeholder Chairman Joseph Silipena echoed Levinson's sentiments and noted, "Residents in most municipalities, except those in the western portion of the county, can view freeholder meetings on their local cable station, but this method will enable all citizens full access."

MyLibraryDV is an easy-to-install free program that provides online access to hundreds of feature films and documentary programming as well as the freeholder meetings. DVDs may be downloaded by library card holders to a personal computer for a seven-day loan period.

For more information, visit the county Web site, www.aclink.org or call the Atlantic County Library System at (609) 625-2776.
