Robert Howie Appointed as Director of Consumer Affairs

Robert A. Howie of Northfield has been appointed to the position of Division Director, Consumer Affairs. Howie was approved by the Board of Freeholders on November 21 after being nominated by County Executive Dennis Levinson. He has served as Acting Division Director since May, 2006 following the retirement of former Division Director John Walsh.
"I am pleased to appoint Bob Howie to this position. His background in education, marketing and business will be a great asset. I look forward to working with him to help ensure that our residents and visitors receive quality goods and services," stated Levinson.
Howie is a state-certified Consumer Affairs Investigator and Weights and Measures official who has been employed by the Division of Consumer Affairs since 2004.
The Division of Consumer Affairs provides consumer protection, advocacy and information. The Division works to guard consumers from fraud, deceit, and misrepresentation involving the sale of goods and services.
Howie was raised in Atlantic County and graduated from Atlantic City High School. He earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Eastern New Mexico University. He also earned a New Jersey teacher's certification from Glassboro State College (Rowan University). In addition, he served as a casino supervisor for Caesars Hotel & Casino.
