Ongoing Programs and Classes
Case Management, Outreach and Follow-upA comprehensive intake/assessment is done to determine the programs and services most appropriate to assist the client and/or family. If the family needs assistance and cannot access services, outreach and follow-up is provided. TRUSTTeaching, Respecting Understanding and Supporting Teens, a program designed to reduce Teen Pregnancy, is provided to groups four times per year. Stress Management GroupsThis program is offered in the Hammonton Public Schools to provide students who are at risk and have self-discipline problems with better ways to express themselves when they are under pressure. Juvenile ProbationMeets twice per month at the Center to provide Case Management services for juveniles on Probation living in the Western end of Atlantic County. Non-Traditional Families GroupThese groups meet at the elementary school with 2nd to 5th grade students who come from separated and divorced families. Groups meet every other week throughout the school year and is coordinated by the school's guidance department in conjunction with Family Center Case Managers. Healthy Families, Strong CommunitiesIn cooperation with AtlantiCare Center for Community Health, "Healthy Families, Strong Communities" provides a home educator to assist parents of young children prepare their children for academic and social success. Services also include safety, nutritional and other health-related educational programs and help in securing needed medical care and social services. To schedule an appointment, please call Cassandra Downey Shellhorn at (609) 704-6983.Drug and Alcohol ServicesThe Hammonton Family Center provides screening and assessment to students who are referred for a substance abuse problem. After completion of an assessment, the case managers develop and implement treatment and aftercare plans. Ongoing follow-up and liaison services to the Hammonton Schools are also provided. Treating Recovering Youth In Transition (TRY IT) also collocates to the center. Summer Arts and CraftsDuring July and August each year the center provides a four week arts and crafts program for children in grades K – 4 Computer ClassesComputer education classes are offered for two beginners levels four times per year at the Hammonton Middle School computer laboratory from 6:30 - 8:30 pm. Days vary according to the course being taken. TANF (Temporary Assistance to Needy Families)The County's Division of Economic Assistance maintains a branch office for the provision of a range of financial assistance programs falling under TANF eligibility in the Human Services Building which also houses the Family Center. Call (609) 567 3200 for further information. CEAS (Comprehensive Emergency Assistance System)Family Center case managers assist in making an application for CEAS funds. The Hammonton Family Center is a provider agency for the County CEAS network. Qualified individuals needing temporary, emergency financial assistance to prevent homelessness should contact the Family Center. Dental ServicesSouthern Jersey Family Medical Center operates a dental clinic in the Human Services Building where the Family Center is located. These services are offered on a sliding fee scale to qualified individuals. For further information contact the Family Center. |
