Because Congress is considering further reductions in the federal appropriation to the Social Service Block Grant (SSBG) funding, the results of this assessment are of paramount importance to the delivery of services to Atlantic County residents. The Atlantic County Human Services Advisory Council, in collaboration with the United Way of Atlantic County and the N.J. Department of Human Services, have begun an update to the 1992 needs assessment. The needs assessment identifies the needs of Atlantic County residents and prioritizes services to meet those needs. This document will serve as the foundation for funding recommendations to county and state officials and the United Way of Atlantic County. A needs assessment workshop is being conducted on Thursday, March 18, 1999, at Atlantic Community College. Human services agency representatives have been invited to participate in this all-day workshop. The day will be divided into a two (2) tier process; the morning session will be dedicated to asking the focus groups to prioritize all of the services identified from the community plans and surveys into a smaller number and the afternoon session will involve all of the groups ranking the services into the final top ten. |
