Annual Kidshows Series Begins December 11

The first of three performances specifically designed for young audiences and families will be held on Saturday, December 11 as part of the annual Kidshows series presented by the Atlantic County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs. The Pushcart Players will present "Peter and the Wolf," a wonderful introduction to classical music and instruments, at 2 PM in the Walter Edge Theater at Atlantic Cape Community College, 5100 Black Horse Pike, Mays Landing. Tickets are $3 at the door.

"In this day and age of TV, computers and video games, it's refreshing to be able to take the family out and experience live theater," said County Executive Dennis Levinson. "We're pleased to be able to provide our residents with inexpensive, quality entertainment that combines culture, education and fun."

The Kathak Ensemble & Friends will take to the stage on Saturday, January 29 to perform the music, dance and stories of India in "Caravan." The series concludes on Saturday, February 26 with "Exit 9," an incredible experience with four, high-energy percussionists from Rutgers University's Mason Gross College.

The Kidshows series is designed to nurture creative imaginations and develop future audiences for the arts. Each show is less than an hour long. Performances are made possible in part through funding from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a partner of the National Endowment on the Arts.
