County Hits Road to Raise Public Awareness of Services

The Atlantic County Division of Intergenerational Services is hitting the road with a new mobile outreach van designed to raise public awareness of county services and programs. The van will make its first stop on Tuesday, September 14 at 11 AM at the county's Office of Veterans Services, 6601 Ventnor Avenue, Ventnor, which is working with Intergenerational Services to provide mutual referrals.

The county purchased the Ford F250 cargo van with funding from the National Family Caregiver Support Program and had it retrofitted to include a small work station with lap top computer, portable table and chairs, a display for brochures and informational pamphlets, and a banner and awning. It is scheduled to visit local shopping malls, grocery stores, libraries, hospitals, housing complexes and municipal buildings.

"It's all about getting the word out to the public and providing greater accessibility to the county's many services," remarked County Executive Dennis Levinson. "We want our residents to be aware of all the services that are available to them. Residents seeking information about home care, senior centers, home delivered meals, transportation and respite will find it here."

Levinson added that the van serves to reach those who might not otherwise reach out for help, including veterans. "We understand that there are often circumstances that prevent people from accessing our services. Our job is to help eliminate those barriers. This van provides another great opportunity to do that."

For more information about the mobile outreach van or county services, please contact the Division of Intergenerational Services at (609) 645-7700, ext. 4700.
