County Director Named New Jersey Emergency Manager of the Year

Vincent Jones, III, Director of the Atlantic County Office of Emergency Preparedness and Emergency Management Coordinator, has been selected as the 2004 New Jersey Emergency Manager of the Year by the Northeast States Emergency Consortium, for exhibiting the highest standards of excellence, dedication and accomplishment in the field of emergency management.

"Vince is very deserving of this illustrious distinction," stated County Executive Dennis Levinson. "He has earned the respect and admiration of the entire emergency management community."

As Emergency Management Coordinator, Jones, a resident of Egg Harbor Township, is responsible for the development, coordination and activation of countywide mutual aid and the emergency management plan. He is also responsible for activating and coordinating the county's Emergency Operations Center in addition to providing emergency preparedness and response training for members of the public and private sector. Jones has served in this capacity for the past six years.

Prior to this position, he was employed by the City of Margate where he was responsible for emergency response planning as well as occupational and environmental compliance.

"We are fortunate to have someone so capable in this position. Our residents and visitors can be assured that Atlantic County is well prepared to handle any emergency," concluded Levinson.
