The Atlantic County Department of Regional Planning will hold a public meeting to discuss the State Development and Redevelopment Plan on Thursday, August 26, 2004 at 10 AM at the Anthony Canale Training Center, 5033 English Creek Avenue, Egg Harbor Township. Residents who have questions or concerns about the State Plan and its impact on their communities are encouraged to attend.
The purpose of the State Plan is to coordinate planning activities and establish Statewide planning objectives in the following areas: land use, housing, economic development, transportation, natural resource conservation, agriculture and farmland retention, recreation, urban and suburban redevelopment, historic preservation, public facilities and services, and intergovernmental coordination.
Atlantic County has agreed to serve as the negotiating entity for the third round of the Cross Acceptance of the State Plan. As part of this process, the Department of Regional Planning has conducted a preliminary mapping comparison of local zoning and the State Plan resource map for each municipality.
