New Materials Available for Loan

Atlantic County Library/Pleasantville and the Buena Community Reading Center inside Buena Regional High School have recently acquired additional Spanish language materials, children’s materials, and recreational and informational reading materials of specific interest to African-Americans and those of Hispanic origin. Made possible by a New Jersey State Library grant of over $12,000, the materials enhance the library system’s existing resources, including a basic collection of Spanish language materials.

Among the titles available for immediate loan throughout the Atlantic County Library System are translations of recent English-language bestsellers for adults and children, such as Como agua para chocolate, Dr. Atkins la nueva revolucion dietetica and Harry Potter y la orden del Fenix. A significant number of easy readers, general and multicultural picture books, and young adult books were purchased with the grant money, as were items on educational and vocational test preparation, employment, language mastery, health and alternative medicine, self-help, Social Security, and legal matters. Materials are available in hardback, paperback, large print, and audiobook formats.
