Atlantic County Signs Contract with Medical Consultant

County Executive Dennis Levinson announced today that Atlantic County has taken another important step toward enhancing emergency preparedness and public health protection. Dr. Phillip Paparone, a well respected local infectious disease specialist from Absecon, has been tapped to serve as medical consultant for the Division of Public Health in times of public health emergency.

"In the event of a bioterror attack or outbreak of a naturally occurring disease, it is reassuring to know that we have an exceptional resource available to work with our Public Health Division," noted Levinson.

The newly signed contract also includes a renewal of medical consultation services for the county's tuberculosis and sexually transmitted disease programs.

"Dr. Paparone's expertise in infectious disease strengthens our entire public health system in the county," commented Health Officer Tracye McArdle. "It is a pleasure to work with such an experienced medical partner."
