Santa Paws Microchip Clinic - Saturday, December 12

Celebrate the holidays and the special joy pets bring to our lives at the Santa Paws Microchip Clinic hosted by the Atlantic County Animal Shelter on Saturday, December 12, 10 AM to 12 noon at 240 Old Turnpike Road in Pleasantville.

This unique event will include an opportunity for dog and cat owners to have their pets microchipped for a $20 fee with a complimentary photo with Santa.

According to Shelter Manager Kathy Kelsey this is the first time the microchip service is being offered at the shelter, but hopefully not the last.

“A microchip provides your pet with permanent identification. It is a simple and painless way to better ensure the return of a lost or stolen pet with its owner,” explained Kelsey.

The microchip is implanted into the pet in the same manner as a vaccination. The identification information is stored in a national pet recovery database that can be accessed by animal shelters, veterinarians, humane societies and other animal facilities.

“Unlike a collar that may fall off or become lost, the microchip is a one-time permanent identification solution,” added Kelsey.

Participants in the one-day clinic will also meet Santa and have an opportunity to preserve their visit with a complimentary photo that may also include their owners. Please bring cats in carriers and dogs on leashes.
