Atlantic County Awarded $275,000 for Homeland Security Efforts

Atlantic County has been awarded nearly $275,000 to help build, maintain and sustain local and regional preparedness capabilities.

The New Jersey Homeland Security Program funding provides $100,000 at the county level and approximately $175,000 for regional projects within the four shore counties of Atlantic, Cape May, Monmouth and Ocean counties.

“This funding allows us to further strengthen our core capabilities and strategies to prevent terrorism,” stated Dennis Levinson, Atlantic County Executive. “In a world that continues to experience what were once considered unimaginable acts of violence, we must do all that we can to protect the lives of our citizens.”

County level funding helps to maintain and enhance first responder capabilities in the following areas: incident management; communications; chemical, biological, radiological nuclear and explosive response and decontamination; medical; urban search and rescue; environmental hazard exposure detection; restoration and recovery; risk management; catastrophic planning and preparation; as well as law enforcement investigations.
