Twelve firefighters and two citizens will be honored by the Atlantic County Firefighters Association for their roles in making life saving rescues at the 24th Annual Atlantic County Firefighters Valor Awards Program on April 15 at 8 PM at the Atlantic County Anthony “Tony” Canale Training Center, 5033 English Creek Avenue, Egg Harbor Township.
The 2014 recipients include:
Captain Kurt Marron, Firefighters Joel Sparano and Khalif Bennett of Rescue 1 and Firefighter Shay Still of Ladder 1, Atlantic City Fire Department, for a November 27, 2014 rescue
NJ State Forest Fire Warden Russ Fenton, Egg Harbor City Chief Butch Kienzle, Cologne Fire Company Chief Shawn Vallauri, and former Egg Harbor City Fire Department Captain Keith Mullineux for a November 15, 2014 rescue
Acting Captain Andrew Hunt and Firefighters Bruce Martin, Daniel Geraci, and Thomas Higbee, Ladder 2, Atlantic City Fire Department, for an April 26, 2014 rescue
Bargaintown Fire Company Captain Jason Rouse and Civilian Fred Maccarelli for a November 26, 2014 rescue.
The Firefighters Association will also honor three firefighters for 50 years of dedicated service. They are: Robert J. Gibney, Dorothy Volunteer Fire Company; Donald G. Milne, Egg Harbor City Fire Department; and James Sandford, South Egg Harbor Volunteer Fire Company.
The Valor Awards were initiated in 1991 and have been presented to 228 individuals including police, fire and emergency services personnel as well as civilians, who have risked their own lives to save the lives of others.
