In honor of Veterans Day, the Atlantic County Animal Shelter is offering military veterans 50 percent off adoption fees throughout the month of November.
“We would like the men and women who put their lives on the line for our country to enjoy the benefit of pet ownership,” stated Dennis Levinson, County Executive.
“Pets are a great addition for many people and are credited with enhancing the quality of our lives,” noted Shelter Manager Kathy Kelsey. “Pet owners have been found to have reduced blood pressure in stressful situations and lower triglyceride and cholesterol levels than those without pets.”
The public can view animals available for adoption online at www.aclink.org/animalshelter or in person at 240 Old Turnpike Road in Pleasantville, daily 1-4 PM, except on Tuesdays, 1-3 PM.
The discounted adoption fees include mandatory sterilization, age appropriate vaccinations, diagnostic testing, a microchip and a free veterinary consultation. ID tags are also available for an additional fee. The shelter provides two free obedience classes for each adopted dog.
The shelter also provides free rabies vaccination clinics one Sunday a month for dogs and cats. The next clinic will be held on November 16, 9 AM to 11 AM at the shelter.
