Financial Assistance is Available for Low-Income Medicare Recipients

Extra help is here for Medicare recipients living on a limited income. You may qualify for as much as $5,000 in annual assistance to help with your Medicare expenses.

Income-eligible seniors and individuals with disabilities who are enrolled in Medicare can save a minimum of $1,000 on healthcare expenses by enrolling in a Medicare Savings Program (MSP). MSP will cover the Medicare Part B premium, a savings of $104.90 per month, for qualified individuals.

They may also qualify for an average annual savings of $3,900 on Medicare Part D premiums and prescriptions with a low income subsidy. In addition to discounts on brand-name and generic medications, there are no co-pays or deductibles for annual wellness visits and personalized prevention plan services.

“Times are tough for many people, especially those living on fixed or limited incomes. I strongly encourage Medicare beneficiaries to learn more about these savings opportunities and qualifications,” stated County Executive Dennis Levinson.
