Work is scheduled to begin on the Eighth Street Bridge over the Hospitality branch of the Great Egg Harbor River in Folsom following today's contract award by the Atlantic County Board of Freeholders to J. Fletcher Creamer & Sons' Folsom division for $677,182.
The contract calls for the removal of the existing Warren Pony Truss bridge and the installation of a temporary bridge. Several components of the historic bridge will be preserved and incorporated into a new permanent bridge, as required by the New Jersey State Historic Preservation Office.
All necessary permits have been obtained by the county. The contract requires work to be substantially completed within 85 days from award.
