Access to Barrier Island Communities Remains Restricted
Access to the barrier island communities of Brigantine, Atlantic City, Ventnor, Margate and Longport remains restricted at this time as per a directive by Governor Chris Christie.
Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson is requesting that the governor rescind the restriction for Brigantine, Margate and Longport after visiting those towns earlier today and conferring with their officials.
Because Ventnor sustained flooding to its sewer system, residents cannot return until the system is operating at full capacity. And in Atlantic City many areas of town remain without power and traffic signalization making it unsafe to return at this time.
It is up to Governor Christie to decide when to lift the restrictions and allow residents to return to these communities. Until further notice, access remains restricted to all five towns.
