Former WBA Light Heavyweight and Olympic Champion to Address Atlantic County Police Academy Recruits
1984 Olympic silver medalist and former WBA Light Heavyweight Champion Virgil "Quicksilver" Hill and his trainer Jose Tabora, a former Mixed Martial Arts competitor, will visit the Atlantic County Police Training Center on Tuesday, October 23 to speak to recruits as part of the physical fitness and defensive tactics training.
Virgil Hill won a silver medal in the 1984 Summer Olympics and was a National Golden Gloves champion. He began his professional career with 19 consecutive wins and won the WBA light heavyweight title in 1987 in Atlantic City. Hill continued fighting over the next two decades. In 2006 at the age of 42 he won his fifth world title. His last fight was in 2007 but he returned to the gym earlier this year in a comeback attempt following the death of his father.
