New Community Shuttle Takes the Road October 1

The new English Creek-Tilton Road community shuttle bus will hit the road beginning Monday, October 1 making daily round trips between Egg Harbor Township and Northfield, 6 AM- 8 PM. The 18-mile route will begin on English Creek at West Jersey Avenue and travel past Family Service Association, English Creek Shopping Center, AtlantiCare Health Complex to Delilah Road past the Atlantic City International Airport and FAA Technical Center to Tilton Road in Cardiff and continuing past the Shore Mall, Pep Boys plaza, Tilton Shopping Center and The Plaza, ending its run at Mill Road in Northfield.

Each one way trip will cost $1 and take approximately 90 minutes to complete with 16 designated stops. As an introductory promotion, the shuttle will run fare-free throughout the month of October. The service is provided as a cooperative public-private effort of the Pascale-Sykes Foundation, Atlantic County, South Jersey Transportation Authority and Cross County Connection.

The English Creek-Tilton Road route was chosen for this service due to a lack of public transportation options for more than 5,000 households within close proximity to this corridor. Officials were concerned that a lack of transportation could limit employment opportunities and access to medical and social services, retail shopping, education institutions and more.

This service will also provide connections to three NJ Transit routes (502, 507, 509) to further expand accessibility to Mays Landing and Ocean City and points in between.
