Inmate Therapeutic Community Graduation - May 24
Thirteen inmates at the Atlantic County Justice Facility who have successfully completed a 60-day comprehensive substance abuse treatment program will be recognized at a graduation ceremony on Thursday, May 24 at 2:00 PM at the Atlantic County Justice Facility, 5060 Atlantic Avenue, Mays Landing.
In 2011 the justice facility received an $11,000 state grant to provide a modified therapeutic community program for incarcerated men. The program targets men with substance dependency disorders who have had multiple admissions into rehabilitation facilities and repeated convictions. Participants receive professional counseling and benefit from the knowledge and experiences of guest speakers. Twenty-seven individuals successfully completed the program last year and 25 have graduated so far in 2012.
Program participants receive a medication regiment tailored to combat chemical addiction and sustain recovery. The program also promotes employment services to increase the likelihood that the participants will successfully transition into the community upon their release from jail.
