Levinson: "Meadowview Nursing Home Will Not Be Sold as Long as I am County Executive"

County Executive Dennis Levinson stated unequivocally that the Atlantic County Meadowview Nursing Home will not be sold while he is county executive.

According to Levinson, an incomplete version of his remarks was reported in The Press of Atlantic City and caused alarm among the residents of the facility as well as their family members and employees. "Many people care deeply about Meadowview for a number of reasons and are now concerned that the facility faces an uncertain future and might be sold," Levinson said.

Levinson noted that his comments were made to The Press editorial board in response to a statement by his opponent, Sheriff Jim McGettigan, that if elected as county executive he would put the nursing home "up for sale to the highest bidder." Levinson responded that the county had previously looked into the sale or lease of Meadowview but that it was not as simple as McGettigan assumed. It was determined that the sale of the nursing home would not be in the best interest of the citizens of Atlantic County.

"What I went on to say, and what was not reported in the news article that followed, was my clear statement that we would not sell the nursing home as long as I am county executive. I hope this clarification gives those who have concerns about the facility’s future the assurance they need," Levinson said.
